The purpose of the Facilities Electrician is maintaining all aspects of heavy and light electrical current and electrical/electronic equipment throughout the facility department’s area of responsibility.
Read blueprints or technical diagrams. Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems. Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
1)Follow all plant safety rules and policies.
2)Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
3)Follow and comply with all safety standards including LOTO
4)Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs.
5)Install conduit and wire
6)Build/install/modify electrical panels and low voltage transformers
7)Sizing and selection of wire and circuit protection devices
8)Sizing and selection of motor controls and contactors
9)Troubleshoot electrical power distribution systems
10)Troubleshoot low voltage controls and relays
11)Troubleshoot electric motors
12)Install and wire electrical motors and drives
13)Repair and maintain indoor and outdoor lighting
14)Operate switchgear for shutdown/startup
16)Use data loggers for power study
17)Install busway and bus plugs
18)Install cable tray
19)Use power monitoring software for analysis and reporting
20)Perform maintenance on medium and low voltage power distribution switchgear and components
21)Perform or oversee testing of new electrical systems and components
22)Perform basic user functions at fire alarm panel
23)Review and mark up engineered plans and drawings
24)Review and modify existing specifications and assist in creating new ones
25)Maintain as-built drawings, schematics, and equipment schedules
26)Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
27)Minor plumbing repairs
28)Overhead door repairs
29)Repair and maintain loading dock components: doors, trailer restraints, and dock levelers
30)Assist with repairs of HVAC systems
31)Assist with repairs of compressed air systems
32)Operate mechanical systems manually or with software controls
33)Operate various aerial lifts, fork trucks, and floor cleaning equipment
34)Install PVC pipe
35)Install small bore threaded or grooved pipe
36)Promotes good housekeeping (5S)
37)Perform other duties as required
Knowledge and Education
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required, Degree in Electrical Maintenance and/or Current Journeyman Electrician certification (Master is preferred)
- Working knowledge of N.E.C.
- Local City and County electrical codes and regulations
- PLC experience a bonus
- Must be Kamtek Forklift Certified.
OTHER: Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
4 years of work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
