The Manufacturing Process Engineer will
utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques
along with strong technical skills to develop
and improve manufacturing processes and
to lead continuous improvement
opportunities. This individual will contribute
to value stream performance metrics both
through day to day troubleshooting as well
as root cause elimination and corrective
action implementation utilizing formalized
techniques. The position requires broad
process knowledge for high-volume
manufacturing including material handling,
in-process gaging, and statistical process
control practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Utilize Data to drive decision making
process to provide technical support for
existing equipment and processes.

•Design and development of tooling,
mechanisms, and controls for use in
metalworking in manufacturing
processes.
•Work with machine and tooling
vendors, specifying design and
performance configuration
specifications as well as acceptance
criterion and commissioning for
acquisition of capital equipment.
•Independently manage multiple
projects of cross functional teams and
provide leadership to see projects
through to completion.
•Participate in departmental, plant and
corporate wide initiatives and Lean
activities that may include Quality
Circles, Kaizen events, the  (JPS), and other
Hoshin support activities.
•Assist in the development of entry
level engineering associates though
coaching and mentoring opportunities.
•Develop work product that includes
solid models (CREO), detailed prints,
critical spare parts listings, and other
necessary documentation.
•Create documentation for work cell
development, standard work
instructions, knowledge capture of
existing processes and procedures, and
support of document control efforts
plant wide.
Supervisory Responsibilities
•This position has no supervisory
responsibilities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Proficient in using computers with the
Windows operating system including
the Microsoft Office Group of Outlook,
Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Proficient with Pro/Engineer (Creo)
and AutoCAD
•Capable of taking engineering theories
and putting them to practical use in
manufacturing
•Strong working knowledge of
Statistical Process Control in order to
solve problems and make sound
judgments
•Ability to document process changes in
support of a structured Quality
Assurance system with management of
change records. Understanding of
automotive environment for change
point control and traceability.
•Demonstrated leadership to endorse,
implement, embrace change
management opportunity.

Other desirable skills and experience:
•Excellent written and verbal
communication skills
•Understanding and support of a quality
management system within the
automotive industry – preferred
•Effective interpersonal skills with
internal and external customers
•Experience in mechatronics and
automated transfer processes.
•Practical understanding of problem-
solving techniques such as, 8D, A3, 5-
Why, Red-X, etc.

Education and Experience:
•Qualified candidates will have a BS in
Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical
Engineering Technology with 5 or more
years of experience in Automotive or
similar monitoring environment.
•MS in Engineering discipline
desirable.
•Understanding and work experience
with PPAP and Quality Gate processes
preferred.

setting and on shop floor. In the office
setting there will be minimal exposure

in exposure to hot and cold
temperatures, noise, fumes, limited
dust, and oily coolants.Requires
walking, climbing, bending, and
occasional lifting of material up to 40
